Default 91 hilux sr5 transfer case / actuator issues

Alright so have owned my 1991 sr5 for a few weeks. Heres a couple of details.
1991, VP Commodore motor and TH700 auto conversion. Has the SR5 Hi-lo switch with 4wd engager button on the side.

Have taken it off road twice, however each time i had to hotwire the transfer actuator to activate 4wd, as the button will just sit and flash and annoyingly beep.
Now the actuator on the back seems to be completely fried, had to remove the cog on passenger side engager, remove transfer motor to disengage 4wd when had finished today.

I need to know the best course of action to completely fix the 4wd system.
Should I replace the actuator and check all the wiring? Or is there a possible way to swap in a manual shifting transfer case?
Is really bugging me so any help would be appreciated!

I also have the VSV's on each fender, however all vacuum lines have been blocked off, as it has manual locking hubs. Will these create issues with 4wd engagement?
