sorry only just saw your most recent reply, hopefully the total clean slate install will fix it...but when it doesn't:

    How do I find msq?

edit: at the moment it's a VR and it is not in control of the ignition (still has a distributor).

double check the installed firmware.. and the version of firmware in tunerstudio used to send data to the MS..
if it's burning tables in wrong place of memory, it will go whacky.. but weird it starts at all

unless it is just running on the priming pulse?

another issue could be the crystal gone bad (as per last link)

msq is the data file saved to the MS...
actually.. whatever file you save in tunerstudio is what I wanna see, to make sure you have config ok in software...
but if that doesn7t match the MS firmware version, that doesn7t help anyway

    running MS2 hardware? MS1?

Ok, I have just been trying the mini terminal out. A few nights ago, when setting things up, I kept getting the flashing fuel pump problem.

Miniterminal reported the config error I was getting was from enabling more than one ignition type at once. ops: I enabled generic wheel ignition only and cycled the power. This sorted all the random output flashes and fixed the warmup led,

well the complete fresh install (minus changing the o2 sensor, trigger wheel setup and changing the VE table to 75) didn't work at all and the neighbors just complained so testing time on the car has come to an end...

Thanks for the links, will be having a read.

you'll love it after it works
if all settings in the project are ok and match firmware in the MS.. then gotta be something hardware or wiring?

hopefully some of the other MS kids will chime in tomorrow...

    First thing.

    What MS do you have?
    What firmware are you running?
What tuning software are you using?
    Where is your MSQ?
    Where are your logs?

    Hey,

    Sorry.
    It's a Megasquirt 2
Firmware is 3.3.1a (downloaded through the DIYautotune.com site)
    I'm using Tunerstudio

    I don't know what a MSQ is??

    Log is here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/69963796/Log.msl

The MSQ is the file that contains all the configurations and settings for your motor. We need this to see 100% exactly what you have configured so we don't chase our tails for hours.
You can find this file in: /My Documents/TunerStudioMS/Projects/<your project name here>/CurrentTune.MSQ

Thanks for the help. As you can probably tell, very new to this.

We have two tunes, one that we fiddled with quite a bit (CurrentTune1) and one that's pretty much as it's installed with the megasquirt (we did a fresh firmware and project install). Neither worked.

    Fiddled with: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...rrentTune1.msq

in your fiddled with msq, you have ignition set up to output to D14.. is that hooked to anything?/
none of programmable outputs are enabled, so not sure that is the config conflict..

have you tried falling edge instead of rising edge, or it needs rising edge? (I forget which you need to use for Hall or VR.. do you have zero-crossing circuit?)

afterstart enrichment is around 2-300 cycles.. does that coincide with the time it takes to go shit?
ie, idle at 900rpm = 20 seconds for 300 cycles.. but you have fixed 60deg temp =220ish cycles?
then again, at 60degC, you have no afterstart enrichment anyway (100%)

you could also try the "output test mode I/O".. see if the LED's trigger correctly?

have you cycled power to the MS after burning tables etc?

I don't think D14 is hooked up to anything, the megasquirt is not controlling any ignition at all. How do I disable the ignition output? Is there a way to tell the megasquirt that it's not doing anything ignition wise?

I need rising edge because of the VR sensor, but when we had the hall sensor we tried both. However since we've tried 3 different mods with the hall sensor, and switched to the vr circuit with the vr circuit, and the problem has remained largely the same. Leading me to believe that it's something else other than just the sensor.

Yeah the temperature is fixed at 60 degrees because my coolant sensor won't work with the megasquirt, so I just jumpered it with a resistor.

I'll try the 'output test mode I/O'.

I have cycled the power to the megasuirt soooo many times...

I dunno about D14.. been a while since I read the assembly/installation things, and time has moved on since then too

could it be losing sync with the 36-1 wheel?

if you bought from DIYautotune, have you tried emailing them? they are supposed to provide support in first instance

bit harsh.. plenty of people run everything from boring road cars to race cars/bikes, landspeed cars, drag vehicles etc with MS
if he'd gotten you to wire it, it wouldn7t have saved any at al LOL

he said it runs good for 20 seconds, so it must be getting some rpm signal in at right time to fire injectors..
    still sounds like config conflict

I know its abit harsh but 50 % of people who buy and fit MS think its a 1 day job especially when most have no efi experience
urgent and megasquirt normally should not be used in the same sentence because its something u try to figure out on weekends
over a 3 month period because that's the rough time it takes to get it working perfectly
