A few years ago I put a JZA80 2JZGE into an MX83. The plate off the 7M air con compressor fitted the 2JZ compressor but I had to cut away part of the power steering pump mounting bracket to clear the lines
So I've put a 2jz-gte from a Jzs147 aristo into my S1 mx83, started her up n what not, I'm on the home stretch essentially for this swap, just got a few things left to do, figured i would ask and see how others have done things to save some time before I find my own method.
1. Alternator wiring
The cressida has a 3pin round plug by the fuse box, yet the Aristo uses a 12pin plug, I've searched but cant find info on the aristo plug, although the colours do match, with the exception of the Blue+red wire..
Does anyone have info on the aristo plug?
on the cressida:
White = battery power
yellow and yellow+black = 12v when ignition is on
The aristo plug:
2. Aircon top plate
Others have mentioned that the AC compressor top plate from the 7M would fit onto the 2j compressor and avoid the need of custom lines.
Doesn't seem to be the case for me, I cant get the cressida top plate onto the 2jz compressor, no matter the angle, the pipe connections hit the back of the power steering pump.
Anyone else run into this problem ? I'm planning to go to the wreckers on the w/e and have a look at some s2 lines, see if they are different, i can get the ends modified for the 2j top plate other wise.
the top plate, best photo i could get of it (hard to show it hitting the pump, lack of room/light):
3. This damn heater hose
Anyone know a particular hose that will fit it ?
My attempts at fitting the aristo hose ended up kinked
4. Ecu mounting
Where have you hidden / mounted your ECU ? i don't think its possible to put it back where the 7m ecu was mounted, trying to avoid extending the wire length as well.
Cheers,
Kev

Jealousy is a curse
I'd look at the plug on the back of the alternator first. Then do a continuity test on the plug in the picture and the alt plug to make sure you have the correct wire. Toyota change the colour of the ignition feed a few times. All jzx90 and some aristo's have a red/blue colour, where earlier ones are black/yellow. The 7m top plate will work but you'll have to remove the power steering pump first. Then you'll have to grind some of the cast power steering bracket off to make it clear. I'v used a few different hoses for the heater. One was with a vvti 2jzgte and I used the jzs161 heater hose. With the other 2jz cressys I'v just gone to repco and found a suitable hose. I'v put the 2jz ecu in the kick panel under the glovebox, not an easy fit.

for the heater hose i used two 90 degree bends with a joiner pipe in the middle you might find some pics in my ride thread
i recently mounted the ecu 'inside' my glovebox. i had to cut most of the glovebox away and make up custom brackets to mounts the ecu to the dahsboard rail.
for me this was no problem since i never used the glovebox anyway, plus now it is a handy stowage for all my electrical boxes - fcd, speed cut defender and i also mounted a fused 12v supply so i can run all the extra stuff without tapping into existing wiring
i installed two rivnuts in the rail. i had to use a cut down drill bit and right angled drill to get in there because there isnt much room. one of the holes if not both i just enlarged the existing hole.
