    Default 4age Replacement, 2ZZ?

    Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum having recently got a Toyota powered machine. The problem is that I recently did a big end in my Clubman with a 4age Smallport in it and was looking at what other options I have. Will a 2ZZ sportivo motor bolt up the gearbox from the 4age? Is there much difference in the heights of the motors and are the engine mounts the same (note RWD setup)??
Or can I use a 20V bottom end to replace my Smallport bottom end that failed and still use the 16V head?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

2zz wont bolt up - different bolt pattern, much taller motor. can be fitted, but lots of stuffing around. don't bother

either rebuild bottom end (Toyota sometimes has the cranks on special for $250!) or get a 100kw or 20v bottom end & yes the 16v head will bolt to a 20v bottom end

2ZZ would be a real pain to make RWD.
One whole side of the block has no threaded holes in it anywhere to bolt a mount onto the side of it,
and when we looked at it the oil filter location would also be an issue.

years ago we did quite a few 2zz o ford t9 rwd setups. Tall & rather expensive. Pretty easy to make up a plate to pickup an engine mount onto.

oil filter was not an issue, but easy to remote mount if its a problem for you

2ZZ celica 6 speed is a common swap into MR2 Spyders(RWD) Maybe look at doing the engine And box swap?

umm - guy wanted to fit it in rwd - not transverse mid engine, for fwd tranny won't work.

7A bottom end for $50 from the wreckers, then 9A stroker kit and all associated parts! Can use your existing head and will bolt up to the gearbox no worries. Only 10?mm increase in height due to the block.
