    Default st185 gt4 WTA intercooler ?

    hi,

is there any benefit or any hp/performance gain between having the st185 WTA intercooler compared to the stock top mount intercooler for the st185 gt4 ? one of my mates is selling one for $200 bux and they are quite rare .. is this a worthy expense/upgrade or it doesnt really do much ?

If hooked up to a large radiator/heat exchanger, yes you will probably see an improvement.

St185 WTA are not too rare if you look around but $200 buck is pretty good. Don't underestimate all the bits and pieces you need to get it running. Make sure he is giving you the pump and radiator as well.

I found my ST205 one much better than the stock top mount air intercooler. p.s. I am selling my whole bolt in St205 setup as well

They are pretty good, and 200 is nothing.. Fmic would be best but it will be a lot more time consuming and costly.. Depends on your future mods?

I found it to be very responsive! Either way you have to get rid of your top mount ATA if you want to do some worthwhile mods

ata<185 WTA<205 WTA< FMIC, cost matches accordingly, knowing what I know now I wouldn't have spent the $200 on a water pump I would have put it to a fmic.
a lot of numbers get thrown around but I personally have seen intake airtemps on a 15'c night hit 60'c on first pull so im not convinced a 205 wta is worth the weight/money... that's my opinion but.

yeah i was thinking the same .. personally i dont think its worth the investment and youre better off just putting a front mount in but i thought it would be worthwhile to keep it looking factory .

i think i'm most likely gonna go with the front mount.. but one thing i know for sure .. i gotta get rid of the factory ATA I/C.. i just dont think it does much and tends to get 'heatsoaked'.

i used to have a large aluminium radiator in the car but unfortunately it started to have a major leak so had to let it go and now back on running a normal radiator

Probably not what you want to hear but I was looking for $600. I boughit it all for $1000 when the St205 stuff was harder to find.

    That includes:
    - ST205 WTA, and St185 throttle body adaptor & silicone hose.
    - St205 radiator and mounting brackets.
    - ST205 Pump with mounting bracket from radiator overflow
    - Flexilble lines to/from the WTA, radiator, and pump.
    - i can throw in the relay to switch the pump as well if you like.

    Cheers
    Ben

    Hi Mate,
The w2a heat exchanger is separate to the engine radiator.

This pic shows all the bits of a w2a system (intercooler, heat exchanger, pump and tubing)
