Default Worth getting a Blacktop 20v Flywheel for 16v 4age smallport

    Hey everyone,
I'm starting my build at the moment and I wanted to see if it was worth sourcing a blacktop 20v flywheel on my 16v 4age small port.

I trust the oem stuff a bit more than aftermarket bits when it comes to flywheels so I wanted to get something oem that was lighter

Am I likely to see a difference from the factory 16v 4age small port flywheel? (I believe its around the 7.9kg mark and the blacktop one is 6kg)

Anyone know of anyone that might be selling a blacktop 20v flywheel too hehe

I've used one on my 4AGE powered AE71 since the beginning... works great.

If I'm not mistaken... new blacktop flywheels are only about $300.00

    Toyota part number = 13405-16110

    as above.
if you can get one cheap enough its a worthwhile upgrade over the standard smallport.

did you use Toyodiy for that number? because it's showing the same for silvertop which doesn't make sense

Why wouldn't flywheels be different for silvertop? They're both 20v..

13405-16030 is the number I see in ToyoDIY for a silvertop

Cheers for clearing that up. Note on toyodiy it lists the part under silvertop engines as 13405-16030, but because the parts are interchangeable the search comes up with both when you search for 13405-16110 perhaps?

I personally don't rate drastically lighter flywheels unless you are mildy increasing power to justify it. I went from a 12.6kg dual mass flywheel to a 6.9kg single mass, BIG difference (did it because the dual mass wasn't serviceable though, still kinda wish I went slightly heavier though).

shaving a kilo off would definitely notice the difference, but I wouldn't go much more than that.

5.9kg for a standard blacktop flywheel sounds perfect to me.
I would trust reputable aftermarket brands on a good quality Chromoly flywheel, but for $300 for a Toyota one of perfect weight, can't go wrong!

Yep confirmed this as well, but as mentioned when you search for 13405-16110 it shows both.

That'll be because it isn't a distinct silvertop-blacktop change, it is more model-based - If I search for 13405-16110 it only shows up blacktop AE111s and the odd AE101 that either used the blacktop (the AE101 BZ Touring Wagon) or the silvertop ones that used the 6-speed (the Ceres and Marino, no Levins/Truenos)

I can confirm 13405-16030 is silvertop. I also found out about the availability and I could sell them for $240 each but I would need to order 4 in for that price.

I would have to check availability but likely yes if I brought 4 in at once.
