Corona crossmembers interchangable? 18r engine

Hey guys i have an rt81 with a 12r engine, now i want to put my 18rg in there, i know there are a few rt80 coronas that came out with 18rc's (rt84) but im not sure if they even came out in aus? (ive seena few back home in nz)

now my question is, would the 18r crossmembers form a rt100 series corona fit in my rt81? it would make fitting my 18rg allot easier :-)

No it wont.Ive done 18R and RG into an RT40 so an RT81 will be much the same.

okay, was yours a 12r? how did you go about getting the mounts right? custom? with a tab of the front?

or do u think its worth tracking down a rt84 crossmember from overseas?

No it was 2R but same as 12R except it being 1500.Being an RT81 you already have a W40 Gearbox(Assuming its manual)take the 12R bellhousing off and bolt the 18R bell straight on then dummy bolt the 18R in and go from there using a Celica mid bath sump.Once you have done this then its a matter of either cut the mounts off the crossmember and move them back or make up some plates to bolt to the 18R and stock crossmember member mounts.I do have pics of my conversion but they are to large to post on here.

i already have a 18rg with w50 to suit, that i want to use :-), my 18rg has the mid sump, so just some custom mounts, pics would be great ill pm you my email adress?
