Default Alpine head unit No output...

    Hi all

I went to make some progress on the wagon stereo.

I have an Alpine CDA-9856, With some Spec R Alpine speakers. I had the 6' fronts with cross overs and tweeters installed in the wagon prior to paint.

After paint I dropped the cross overs and tweeters and just had the H/U driving the fronts (no rears)

I got jack of the crap sound so I went to wire the cross overs and tweeters back in.

I wired the right had side in, turned on the stereo and had 3 speakers working, the tweeter and main speaker on the drivers side and the main speaker on the left. I put all my carpet back in and moved to the left.

I wired in the left cross over and tweeter and went to check. Got nothing..... Head Unit has power with no out put.

I then tried with another speaker, no go
I checked the continuity and it was fine

    checked the manual
I checked the internal mutes and device mutes all good
I Played with the Power IC (turns internal amp on and off) still no good.
    I hit master reset...

After some cruising on the net it was suggested that the internal amp has died and to try using the RCA out puts..
I did I have an old amp kicking around, So I plugged into the RCA outs and powered the amp and wired in my speaker and got sound!!!

So my question is have I done all I can and is it the internal amp that has died, with little use and for no apparent reason...

    thanks

Have a massive 300km cruise tomorrow and want sound for it.....

don't want to run the amp?
should sound better with the amp running them anyway. or just no where to put the amp?

    Cheers

will run amp eventually, I just have a two channel amp from a sub kicking around, that and a 4 channel will go in...

    just cash really

also bit of a screw around to mount it all. Either way I have all bar the speaker wires run to where I want to put the amps.

just use the 2 channel to run the splits for the time being, then when ya fit the 4 channel, swap them over....

cash is always the best bit!!! should see some of my diff quotes lol!
