Type 2 are base adjustable coilovers where theres a top sleeve for springs and damper adjustment but theres a seperate bottom sleeve for ride height adjustment, much easier to work with.
Yeah I've checked out the mca stuff, a few of my friends have them in their 86 or s13. I don't believe they make one for the 1st celica range. If they do I'd be interested to check it out.

If you are welding on the coilover yourself obviously you would try to set it up so you have enough adjustment so the helper spring isn't needed right?
Yeah DMS gear ain't cheap, but just the springs themselves aren't too bad.

But in answering your question, yes pretty much. Wheel clearance dependant, you should be able to get sufficient spring in there for the bump and droop you need without requiring a helper spring.

I managed this with my 23, but that was long long ago and no idea what the measurements were sorry.

Thanks for the help, I might call up dms and see what they can do about the springs.

I'll have to work out bump and droop stuff later also.

I went the otomoto kit because I liked the way it fitted up on the strut. If I recall correctly the T3 kit sits on a collar or something? Just didn't seem as nice.

I found the whole process of working out strut tube length as mind fuck and I reckon between me and the welder we cocked it up.

If I had my time over, I would have bought thee AJPS gear off the shelf. By the time I had the Koni's reco'd and valved, had bought the weld on kit, had paid the welder to do it, I had spent nearly the same as the same as the AJPS gear. And the AJPS stuff is proven, he has done it countless times.

Now for something else to think about - I run shockworks coilovers in the my RA23 Celica. Ride is awesome, handling is awesome, and their service was exceptional.

Doesn't have the brand that MCA or DMS does, but doesn't have the pricetag either.
