Hi all,
Am currently making a dry sump setup for a 4agte and was curious to know what people do with the windage tray? Is it still beneficial in a dry sump setup to have the tray in there? I've read conflicting reports from various forums but nothing specifically 4age related. I'd like to hear what people's opinions are. I will eventually be running a stroker crank with a crank girdle but am setting up the dry sump on the old engine to iron out any issues. If I need to add the windage tray as well, it creates another surface I need to seal up so leaving it out would be convenient. Cheers.
Eddie.
4agte finally completed. 234rwkw @ 8125rpm. Tis fun

I have no experience with these systems, and I currently have no need for a dry sump system.
But, like a lot of things, I am interested in the technology. Looking around, it seems that when
you are after the last couple of percent of performance, windage trays do offer some advantages
when used with dry sump systems. In particular, at extreme rpmīs and in engines that see high
lateral acceleration. There are some interesting comments here...

The advantages may be comparatively small when compared to windage trays on wet sump
engines. But if I was investing the time and money in dry sumping an engine, I would certainly
add the crank scraper/windage tray combo to my build.
