    Default turning a GX71 into a JZX71 - what to do?

    Hello toymodders!

So basically I have an underlying plan to 1jz vvti single turbo my Cresta. I have some ideas set to put this into motion for when this all comes to fruition and, yes, do understand the costs involved and is actually the better option for what else I did have planned both financially and sourcing parts wise and also reliability ie. single turbo and rebuild the 1G motor mucho headf@ck than doing a conversion

Now what I would like to get from you dear people is any advice/knowledge of how all this is going to go down.

    To my knowledge it would go like this in layman terms;
NOTE: will want this set up mostly for cuising/daily duties with the occasional power fun times

    1. take out 1g and w58 gb (sell to make back some money)

    2. source 1/2 cut containing factory 1jz vvti single turbo and r154 gb and if lucky tail shaft too - best bet JZX100? (from KYP or the like in WA)
    - alternatively source motor and hope can get with manual ecu, loom, all necessary wires and bits n bobs for it to be put in and wired up.
    - source r154 gearbox and see if can get tail shaft to and also bellhousing to fit 1j

    3. fab up tail shaft to sync with new g/b and G series diff

    4. possibly change diff gear ratios if needed?

    5. make sure brake/suspension set up can handle new engine power
    - atm suspension yes currently looking for brake upgrade as no if 1j'd

    6. have heaps of fun remounting and rewiring everything and modding fabbing anything needed to move to fit new set up

    7. change all gaskets and belts and filters/fluids to be on safe side

    8. Aftermarket bits to consider?
    - ecu?
    - turbo timer?
    - new h/d clutch?
    - turbo/intercooler upgrade?
    - fully sick gauges (already looking at working on)
    - changing to analogue display from the digital? Heard of a few people having troubles with the digital syncing with the new motor so something to consider I guess
    - something I'm already searching for - upgrade bits for better/more steering lock? At the moment is like turning a bloody truck at times

I have basic pricing for the converion minus the upgrade aftermarket bits as more thought to do the conversion and upgrade aftermarket bits as she goes or change what needs be done straight away.

So yeah that's how I have it so please leave any CONSTRUCTIVE advice criticism you think might help me in my quest.

    Cheers and stay classy

Have a search for the 1JZ into MA61 thread, it will help tremendously

FYI X7 are F-series diff. If you find a way to mount a g-series though i'd be very interested to see it!

good luck with the conversion. As CrUZ has said, worth a look at the MA61 conversion thread (as the MA61, X7 and Z10 chassis are much the same for purposes of converting)

If anyone reads my build thread recently been made redundant so looking for purely info atm as can no longer fund that plan but yeah mine rocks a factory G series got lucky with most of my gear already on the car when I bought it but atm can only hope to make it so the 1G doesn't shit it on me till financial situation changes and will be on to doing as above mentioned. That or win lotto and have the craziest x71 in Perth hahaha
