What engine is it ? (Classic Celica TA22)

Hello,

First time posting here, and a fresh mint to the car scene after only receiving my license a couple of months ago but eager to learn.
Long story short, I was offered "Block and top" and matching Manual transmission from my brother after he took them out from his classic celica for a swap (1972/3/4 Celica, TA22 I presume ?) but unfortunately, His mint classic was crashed and now instead owns an 86 (Almost as cool)

Anyways, The idea of the engine was to simply "Have and play", Take it apart and resemble during my 3 Month break for uni for educational purposes and a bit of free fun (And or keep as spares for my very own planned classic celica)
I tried to identify the engine so I could look up specs and technical diagrams but unfortunately I was unable to find a badge or any significant markings stating otherwise. I'm Going to take a guess that it is a 2T given that supposedly came out of a 1972/3/4 TA22, but I'm not a 100%

Hi there mate,

It would definitely be a T series engine & most likely 2T as you suggest also with a side serve of T50 gearbox.

A 2T engine should start with 2Txxx for the engine number, although of course a 3T crank can be fitted for the extra 200 cc's...

It should be a fun exercise to strip & rebuild. Hope to see you with a classic Celica someday!

Looks like a 2T me to as well. The serial number should be on the flat area next to the dip stick.
