Any engine swap basically requires a engineers report, only way you can get around it is if the car came with the engine as a factory option, but even then (as with ae86's) cops will still say you need one.
hey guys,
My 7mge has finally gone as they do, replacing it with a 2jzge so can anybody tell me if it needs an engineers certificate as the whole auto engineering thing does my head in and i cant find a straight answer!
thanks for you time in advance jack.

I looked into this a while ago, and if it's non turbo there's probably not too many worries. 2JZ-GEs came out in IS300s and GS300s, so they meet ADR emissions and are "recognised" in the system, and are the same displacement (give or take a few CCs). I spoke to the engineering department of the RTA, but this was about 3 years ago, and they said it was even "P" friendly!
