The new G4+ Atom is $999(nz) and I see the Microtech LT-9c is under $800(au).

Ive had a bunch of sucess with EMS ecus. good list of features, basic/easy to use software, australian support and theyre cheap too...

on topic: complete Microtech LT12 packages with X6 ignitor setup and loom etc seem to come up every now and then on Supraforums for $1000-$1500. Will get you started, provided you don't want idle control, and easily tuned.
