AE82 Gear knob Removal HELP!

How the @$@$@%! do you remove the stock gear knob, for the life of me this has me stumped! Such a stupid little thing can bring so much hatred! I need to remove the Gear stick boot but cant cause this little evil thing is in my way!!

You just unscrew it, like every other factory gear knob.

A rag and vice-grips might be needed if it is stuck on, a bit of WD40 up the threads can't hurt either.

i know the auto's have a grub screw
in them as well but i'm pretty sure the manuals are just twist on and off.
As you said, someone probably glued it on.

Glued or just stuck with time, my AE102 factory knob was so hard to get off I accidentally ended up twisting the vinyl cover off instead of undoing the thread (certainly made me worry less about using vice-grips then...)

Try putting on some rubber gloves first. Can give you more grip when pulling your knob...
