    Default 2T-GEU - Header Choice

    Hi all,

I am starting a rebuild process on a TA22, it currently has a 3T/2T-GEU hybrid installed. The existing headers are I feel in need of replacement.

What options do I have available to replace them, I would be looking for a tuned header. Having a look as some of the current jap players in the market they seem to not have anything for the older engines, not surprising really.

I'd prefer new but I guess if there is nothing around second hand may be required, or even full custom.

Just looking for brands, models, things to take note of, etc.. so can do some research and work out what I am to get.

    Thanks.

gnade. The factory cast headers are okay until you do mods to engine , other than capacity change. Depending on what you intend to use celica for, if modified, use 4 into two into one or tri y for road use. They give a broader and less peaky torque curve. For regular track use four into one are best choice. I haven't got tuned lengths readily available but with research you can get idea of tube lengths for your power range. Type depends on regular used power range i.e use torque band tri y or higher rev hp range four into one.

I believe Hurricane do tune length extractors, although they may have discontinued them since last I checked.
4-2-1 headers are great but good luck finding them, if you do- you'll pay a mint.

Thanks both of you. The engine as noted is a 3T/2T-GEU combo of ~1.8ltrs capacity, it has lightly polished and flowed head. It is still in break-in stage. It will be removed from the chassis so I can do work there first. Unfortunately i cannot comment on how it delivers torque at the moment as I have never driven it. I don't intend to track it however I have come from a supercharged platform and am used to low down torque.

I'll do some reading and also look into the Hurricane avenue. Cheers.

On another note, would it be safe to assume headers are interchangeable on the various 2T-G** heads ?

The headers are interchangeable between all T series engines. There may be some odd T series that may not fit. 2TG, 2T, 2TB, 2TGEU, 3T, 3TC all interchange. As said, forgot to mention, tri y can be expensive. 4 into 1 are cheaper to manufacture.

Did a little light sanding on my headers this afternoon, turns out there is a Pacemaker plaque attached to them. Perhaps they are, or perhaps someone just welded it on some random headers.
Just in case anyone was wondering.

pacemaker have always been a recommended brand, just get them hpc coated if you dont like how they look. they will give you the best possible outcome from your hybrid if you have a suitable exhaust system.

I've got Genie headers on my 3TC, with a 4-1 design. Not sure if they still make them. I've also got 4-2-1 headers on a 2tgeu. Its got the fitting for the sensor.
The ultimate would be Kameari 2tg headers:

I have "Sonic" headers on mine. They were 4-2-1 but have been cut into two pieces. They were on the car when I got it so cant give you any more pointers other than the name.

    Cheers,
    Chris

WAG Certainly not nothing compared to some factory manifolds, but less then equal to any other 4-1 of similar length because of that 90 degree turn at the port.
