Wakefield Park Track Day - Friday 1st of November!!

Ok so it seems like we've only just had the last one, but it's almost that time again already; only 9 weeks to go!

It has been moved forward a week from the original planned date, as a bunch of the club guys are going to the supersprint nationals at Phillip Island on the 9th/10th. I'm therefore expecting a pretty quiet day as a number of them won't want to risk the car with so little time to repair before the trip. Plenty of track time for us then! Hopefully a bit less traffic than the August day.

All the usual info, cost is $200 per car, anybody who's been will attest it's awesome value for the amount of track time you get. Even with the busy day we just had, you still get a heap of laps, particularly if you time your sessions well.

This is the last day for the year so get out and get your fix before the long wait over summer! Being just after Toyotafest everyone should have finished cars they're keen to get out and enjoy..?

We run a limited number of cars so you pay per car and can cycle as many drivers through one car as you like, it's open track all day with a limit of 12 on circuit and a one in one out basis, so you can go out when you want. I currently have at least 15 spots reserved for Toymodders, and can usually grab a couple more if we fill these up quick enough.

All the usual info, Thursday and Friday nights at the Pelican station next to the track (or in town if numbers are low and we leave it to the last minute), bring CAMS or valid driver's licence, helmet, neck/wrist/ankle length clothing and beverages if staying (accom is about $40/night depending on numbers).

No official timing means cheaper insurance (and therefore track time) and passengers are allowed for 'driver training purposes', but feel free to organise your own timing gear.

So, when you commit to coming, i will PM bank details to transfer to (incl for accomodation to book spots), then when i see the coin ($200 + $40/night) i will add you to this...

Sif you're not going to bring it. Assuming it's not still in eleventy pieces, it IS a good week before Cooma so you could still be waiting on clutch bits or something?

ps We all still want to see it twincharged with that big KB hanging out of the bonnet, at some stage. Even if it's just for shits and giggles for a while. You know, if you're looking for something to do after Cooma.

What does the insurance refer to? I asked about track day insurance in the previous thread and was told that it doesn't exist?!

Yeah, i'm referring to the fact that, as a non-timed event, the public liability and indemnity insurance required by wakefield for wakefield, and the organisers, is significantly less than if it was a timed event. This is a CAMS and insurer (and a few other places) defined class of event and there's a whole host of other implications between the two. As an example, minimum licence requirement is a (CAMS) Level 2 (L2) licence, whereas for timed events it's a Level 2 Speed (L2S) licence.

Basically, because it's a practice day not a competitive day, the insurance we have to pay as part of the track hire fees is significantly less, and we don't need as many officials, marshals, ambos etc - therefore we're able to offer the cost to you as the bargain it is at $200.

We basically divide the cost up by our target number of participants and pass it along to you. If we get a few extra cars one day, we leave the cash in the kitty for the next day when we end up a few cars short, to minimise the times we're out of pocket, so we can hopefully keep doing these for a while to come yet.

Sooo, another couple of weeks past and zero activity in here.

I realise people are probably focused on ToyotaFest at this point but we're only 5 weeks out, so i'm hoping to see a flurry of interest here and action on my bank account immediately after the long weekend...

Good thing is i guess everybody's cars will be in tiptop shape for next weekend, so have nothing to do to be ready for Wakefield??
