    Default soarer dash in 1UZX22?

i jst spotted some soarer dash clusters on ebay, and was wondering if it'd be possible and relatively easy to hook up in my mkII, considering it's gonna have a 1UZ? it's not a soarer 1UZ, if that makes a difference.

p.s., i don't know which model soarer they're from, whether it's from a UZZ or JZZ....

    any help appreciated

    Its a bitch to do.

The fuel gauge sender is VERY unique, so you'll have to get a custom fuel tank just to get that installed.
Or live with a non factory fuel gauge.

Depending on what box you use, you may need some jaycar trickery to get the speedo working.

I can't get the tripmeter or odometer to work on mine.

I'm not sure how easy it will be to get it working like it does in the factory car (ie, codes coming up on dash etc)

The japanese warning symbols are more of a piss off than anything else.
You have no idea what they say until you bring out the conversion chart.

Digital speedo's aren't the best on earth either.
And the digital tacho sucks balls.

    Oh, and you'll NEED a UZZ3x one.

The JZZ one will have wrong tacho.

i plan on attemmpting this one day for the UZZ31 half cut into ra40 one day.
I have a spare dash at home with which to do test fitments and light globe changes with.
There are a multitude of wires on it and it looks very daunting, which is why i will be using a uzz31 half cut to hopefully minimise the pain that could be experienced.
I have seen piccies of the fuel sender for a xz3x but suerly it would still work on a variable resistor type system Cruz?
As also mentioned the speedo cluster for the 3 series soarers is specific to that model. Ie a uz cluster wont show all features witha jz engine like speedo. apparently there are differences between the jz series clusters as well that doesn't make them interchangeable with other models (2jzge vs 1jzgttl vs 1jzgtt)
I have heard of the gz20 soarer dash being fitted to an ra23/8 series celica when doing the 1g conversion to those (hunt on the old forums for information on this, that is where i got it from), but that obviously didn't include a v8 into the equation.

The clusters are quite deep also which i am struggling with to find an easily mountable position into the ra40 so you might have the same issue, the windscreen really needs to be raked more for it to fit properly.
personally though i like the digital look of the 3 series soarers, it just looks sooo much more classier than the traditional guage style speedo (agreed though the tacho blows but i am doing my car for cruising, not for racing, so tacho doesn't play a major role for me...just like the soarer)

    No idea honestly.
Its the funkiest fuel sender I've ever seen.

Had 5 wires instead of 3.
    NO moving parts.
The wires dont get submersed at all.

Tacho will work, temp will work, fuel guage depends on sender, speedo not sure, and I have no idea whether the Celsior ECU can talk to the Soarer dash or not

Ah, you will need to mod the rear sensor setup on the Crown box to get it working with the Celsior ecu.

I've had to do this on my Crown box to get it working with the Soarer ecu.

this sensor is what? i was gonna use a cable speedo before looking at this dash idea. i haven't had a good look at the box.

so, on the dash, some instruments would be easy to hook up, and some expensive?

i have a device that will change the signals from the crown box to the soarer/celsior ecu

you can either fit this electrical device or u can mix and match the rear of the auto gbox

im goin to fit one to a celsior with a crown box in 2 weeks and see how it goes

    Search Lextreme.

I've posted a couple of times how I've done it.
