Yup. If there's a dodgy connection on the CAS I doubt the engine would run at all.
Wouldnt really stuffed injector and CAS plugs upset more than just the idle anyway?

I appreciate the offer Norbie. At the moment, the car isn't moving under its own power and I've spent enough already towing it around. Otherwise I'd take you up on that offer.
I've decided to stick with the mechanic this time round (I know, I know) but I've seen his finished products and they are very impressive. I'm looking at going to aftermarket engine management and doing a few other things. For now, I'll see how things pan out.
Ok guys. I've got an update.
CAS connection is fine. It's just the injector plugs that I need to track down. I've searched and searched, all I can find on the net are after market ones. Which I assume are for aftermarket injectors.
Any ideas?
You shouldnt need new plugs.
On most of mine the clips are broken, but its been like that for years.
Its a nice snug fit and so it shouldn't come off.
But I haven't dealt with sidefeed injectors before, so I could be talking shit.

What shape are the plugs? Supercheap have some kinds and worst case PM Rod at SAS (thetoyman75) they do them for about 10 bucks a pop

They have everything you'd ever need... plugs, coils, distributor parts, injectors, pickups, etc. etc.
I'm with stupid. You shouldn't need new plugs. One of mine is broken, but it sits fine and never misses a beat. If you really wanted to work out if it was the problem, and given your problems are at idle, hold the offending plug on tight. It's a simple solenoid, it'll either work or it doesn't.Originally Posted by CrUZida

What they said. I have some injector plugs on my 18R-G which have big chunks missing and the electrical connection is still fine. I can't see injector plugs causing the problems you describe.

Coil plugs and Injector plugs etc - all can be purchased new from Toyota...
I just bought and had replaced all 6 coil plugs on my 2JZ

Thanks Toobs! Gave them a ring and they have exactly what I need.Originally Posted by Toobs
Now.. next thing on the list. Sourcing the bits I need to stick a W58 behind the 2J.
From what I've heard/read I can get everything I need from an RA60 (minus the W58 and associated 2J bits) to convert an MA61 to manual. Would this be correct?
Actually an RA65 is what you want because it has a tailshaft to suit an IRS diff. You can also use the W5x transmission out of the RA65 if you want to. The only 2JZ-specific parts you need are the bellhousing and flywheel, the rest can be lifted from an RA65.
What is your timeframe for this conversion? If you can wait a few months I'll be selling my 2JZ -> W58 bits, including a Hilux tailshaft modified to suit an MA61. It will all be redundant after I've finished the 6-speed conversion.

Have a look at the old forums for the MA61 Blacksupra built, it's a 2J with a W58 behind it.Originally Posted by Phoenix01
That would be awesome! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'll still need the following:
Master Cylinder
Slave Cylinder
Hard Line + Soft Line
Clutch Pedal + Mounting Bracket
Manual Brake Pedal
Flywheel + Bolts
Which I'll need to strip from an xA6x
On that note, would it be easier to find a complete RA60/RA65 to strip, or are these parts plentiful amoungst wreckers?
all that minus flywheel... and maybe bolts should be obtainable from a wrecked ra6x
