Awesome!
Don't thank me. Thank the thread (linked below) on supraforums.com.au, and Norbie for pointing me in the right direction.

I'm gonna have to buy you guys a beer sometime.
I bought some of those plugs a while ago at my local (pretty ordinary) Toyota dealer - from memory they were $11 each, which might seem a bit much for what you get, but is ever so slightly better than $2500...
Yup, that plug looks identical to what I bought. I'm pretty sure I paid $11 each too, which is ridiculous for what you get but I'm happy with the result.

Argh. Spoke to the mechanic again this morning. He says the plugs for the injectors and CAS are stuffed too.
WTF happened to your engine man? My Aristo front cut was bought at about the same time as Paul's and all my plugs are fine!

suggestion? retrieve the car from the butcher (masquerading as a mechanic) - repair wiring damage yourself - learn about your engine bay - profit!1
For the CAS and injector connectors to be snafu, you'd have to set fire to the engine.
i call BS.
It wouldnt be uncommon for the clips to break, but that doesn't stop the plug from working.

i'm with the chuckster here. it sounds like someones taking stabs in the dark here at your expense.
can i suggest a 2nd opinion from someone else (like a sparky/mech who knows about these things?)
Where in Qld are you located? If you're anywhere near Brisbane bring it over to my place, I'd be happy to take a look and give you my unbiased opinion.

But Norbie, its not a rocket, does that mean you can actually do something with it?
Anyway, that is a complete ripoff merchant who you are calling a mechanic. Go get your car and do it yourself, much better.

yeah, he could nod his head and go 'hhummm' a lot. That sounds and looks like doing something when you're not actually doing anything at all.
