    Default Experienced drum to disc converters - need your advice

    My experince = None
    Car - Corolla AE95 4wd wagon.
    Reason - Engineering compliance due to engine upgrade, ..and cause I want some.
    Axle/Diff - T-series (like AE86 kouki)
    PCD - 4 x 100
    Internal drum diameter - 200mm

    OK, so..

    Where/How/What do I need to do to start this mission?
    4AFE/gearbox issues, 4AGT/ZE replacement changes to fully blown 7AGTE project...

    Just learned BMW E30 is rear wheel drive with rear discs and 4 x 100 PCD, only difference being it's independent suspension which I think makes things difficult.
    4AFE/gearbox issues, 4AGT/ZE replacement changes to fully blown 7AGTE project...

    If you have a T-series then you can do the oldest drum to disc conversion in the book.

    Yours will be the same as an RA40 / RA60 'T' Diff.

    Use ST141 rear discs off a solid axle ST141 as the RT142 discs are impossible to get.

    I did mine on my hilux diff
    I removed the complete drums so it was just the studs and axle there
    put on an xf ford discs
    adapted the calipers to bolt onto the axle bolts and just made sure the spacings were correct
    its not too hard of a job just make sure everything lines up properly

    Thanks guys, I saw that link and a few others late last night re: the RA40/60 gear, PCD's different..

    ...But I haven't got my hands dirty on this issues yet, will take some time to read through the link as I haven't quite got my head around it..

    PCD shouldn't bee too much of an issue for you as any competent machinist should be able to re-drill rotors for you. But being from the land of many imports I recall that some of the JDM AWD Corollas on the higher end models were 4 wheel disc brakes and earlier on they were a right royal bitch to get replacement rear pads and rotors for as there were no listings for them, But as I recall most had IRS and had pretty much the same rear brakes as the ST185 GT4 Celica. Another that looked similar in the body was called the Carib but had a live rear axle yet with drums. Some Sprinters such as the TE71 were 4 wheel disc but different stud pattern. For a direct bolt on I'd think that your best bet might be contacting some specialist Toyota Wreckers in NZ but remember this (which also applies to Hiluxes). The PCD of the wheel studs isn't the issue, it's whether the reaction plates (i.e caliper mounts/bearing carrier) will bolt onto your axle housing. While I haven't done rear disc conversions for a while I make comment based on my profession as an automotive engineer.

    Do the ST141 rear disc setup, have the rotors redrilled. This is not a difficult operation.

    I've heard that about JDM 4wd corollas at Pedders, apparently according to there suppllier catalogues 4wd Corollas used the same rear disc as the AW11 MR2. I've searched for photo's of a 4wheel disc Corolla and cannot find any..

    What I'm hearing is in terms of caliper mounts/bearing carrier, ..whatever works for the AE86 kouki guys will work for us Carib, alltracwagon, 4wd Corolla AE95 guys..
    So many names for the same thing in so many countries.

    The only difference being we'd either have to use a multi fit wheel because of the 4x 100 / 4 x 114.3 PCD difference..
    OR...
    .... Find a 4 x 100 disc that would fit the chosen caliper mounts/bearing carrier.
