that reminds me...... I don't recall an SDMA membership reminder, but surely they are overdue now? Better renew mine, for whatever reason (collect dust or something).

I've always wondered if there's actually any validation between the two, other than at the time of application. My guess is no
s'pose I better get it sorted before snowy mountains 1000 regardless.
any further word on the planned and highly anticipated track resurfacing at Fairbairn?
Have fun at the hillclimb this weekend boys! Hope you get some sunny weather to dry out that goat track.

Event report...
I was slow. I got pinged for noise. And it appears that tyres now have to be above wear indicators - so scratch all the 2nd hand R spec tyres I have...
Funnily enough I still had fun.![]()

Todd , one set of tyres for scrut and 1st few runs , then swap to------------------ !!!!!!! The only thing that seems to get them going after scrut is noise and dropping oil. Also heard a wisper that noise meter has been adjusted below limit required . Mine was always close , but never been over . If I ever run out there again and the metre goes off , then , well you can work it out .
bugger, and bugger!

Interesting to see the regs re. the tread level. I was of the understanding that as long as the tread pattern was still visible at the start of the day then you could run them, and that didn't include excessive wear on the edges.
I heard that the noise meter had been going off at slightly under the 87dB after being calibrated?

Also frustrated by the tyres, but looking at Bob's suggestion. The club did try and fight the ruling, saying there is only a single car on the track at one time, and the run time is under 5 minutes for the day, but cams didn't seem to want to listen. This has all come about ( I have heard, so don't hold me to it) from one person. I want say any more.
It will make this grass root motorsport event/ club that much more expensive, and unachievable by many who are on a tight budget. Goes against what these events are for.
A way we might be heard is if their is a strong voice at the AGM. Something to consider.
Exhaust noise sucks, but on the same account we don't want to loose the privilege of these event because of excess noise. The track has been shut down in the past due to excessive noise. Felt bad for you Todd. You still won your catagory.
Yep Tyrie, the club regs was just visible tread. But the issue was raised that that isn't what the CAMS manual states. Club fought it but had to go to CAMS for a ruling. And CAMS said the club rules had to change... Annoying as hell but its the way it is...
Plan on going to the AGM so will happily lend my voice to any action.
Don't feel sorry for me Mark as I was amazed that the PP was below the noise level the first time I raced it. So I have been amazed that I have got away with it this long - almost a year. Suspect the exhaust has been getting noisier as rotaries do kill mufflers. Will repack with Rockwool and try and quiten the intake as well.
The noise meter was definitely recalibrated - and the level it is set at is what it will be until they lower it again so it's just a case of try and comply. Last thing anybody wants is for the club to run out of noise credits and not being able to hold events.
