    Default R154 differences

    i have an R154 with a double synchro for 1st and 2nd.
a rebuild kit for an 88-94 r154 has 5 single synchros.

as well as this all of the synchros are different.
the replacement synchros are designed for sleeves with external square keys to fit into grooved keys in the synchro.
my original synchros are designed for synchros with external square keys to fit into grooved keys in the sleeve
what gearbox do i have? how do i source parts?

on toyodiy i tried multiple gearboxs jzx90 jzx100 etc and they all have the same synchro ending in 80.
i believe thats where my box came from

Your gearbox has a remote linkage shifter then I assume?

It was my understanding that the JZX100 chasers had the updated synchros you describe, but your parts search seems to contradict that.... confusing!

What bellhousing is the box fitted with, definitely a JZ pattern?

'94 was the changeover year for direct to remote shifters on R154s in Z30 Soarers (the only ones I know that have both versions in the same model), maybe have a look through a '91, '95 and '98 Z30 Soarer book on ToyoDIY (as that will cover the changeover between direct and remote as well as the twin-single turbos)

it has the non-remote shift housing. it has no bellhousing.
R154 bearings and seals are the same. (i used the press on the inputshaft bearing and its hard to get interference fits wrong)

1st and 2nd are double synchro
1 2 3 4 5 have different keys/methods for the hub to hold onto it

    1991 jzz30 33367-35010 is part no. for both 1st and 2nd synchro
33367-35080 is all the later boxes.
YOU BEAUTY! i even had a look through z30s and couldnt find them haha thank you toy mods!

ok heres a new question for you all

why would they return from a double synchro when from my knowledge it is that they provide smoother longer lasting synchronization?
