    Default Help needed ae80 4age 20v c160 conversion

hi guys im writing this because i am at my wits end, i have searched high and low and i simply cannot find any information pertaining to swapping a 4age into an ae80 corolla hatch. to be a little more specific i have recently aquired a crashed ae111 with a working blacktop and a 6spd gearbox, i am under the understanding that this is a c160 transmission. now my humble daily driver currently has a 2a-c with a 4spd and over 300,000kms on the clock and i want to do a little side project and drop the lot in the ae80. obviously this isnt going to be bolt in conversion but im just curious as to what is involved?? i am wondering if anybody here has attempted this or knows where i can find any info on this or a similar swap? basically the info i am looking for is to do with engine and gearbox compatability (will it bolt in?) and driveshaft compatability (will the ae80 shafts be used or will i need to source others?) and im guessing the shifter setup will also be an issue?? so far it is all speculation. any help would be much appreciated.

regardless of what info is out there i am never the less going to attempt this conversion.. i mean how hard could it be right? so in the process i will be taking millions of photos and documenting everything that we end up modifying to make work so that at the end of it i can share a step by step guide to anybody else who may have wanted to do this conversion but was scared of the lack of info out there.

actually for the greater part it is a bolt in conversion, that is if you use the ae80 gearbox that is. There might be a difference between driveshafts and linkages if you use the ae111 box. Not really my area.

ok, thats what i was thinking also. i have the whole front of the ae111 to utilise so i am going to attempt the 6 spd conversion anyway. hopefully its pretty straight forward. ill be sure to take plenty of pics and document the process and make a small build/conversion thread and share it. eventually ill put my build thread up of my stroked 4agte thats going in my adm ae86 levin aswell. you will probably recognise a few sam q engineering parts on the engine

I read some time ago about people modding the shifter housing in the cabin to allow for the extra gear position. Do a search for blacktop or ae111 6 speed conversion to find the article. As for driveshafts you can get them custom made. All up the conversion shouldn't be terribly hard.

    6Spd - C160 installation Guide ae82 , ae92 , ae101 etc. - Tutorials, FAQs & How To - twincam.org.au

its pretty easy, use the shafts off ae111. or use the ae80 ones doesn't matter.
