    Default 1ggte info

I am new to toymods and have posted this question on another part of this site. I have had some replies
it looks like this might be a better place to ask. thanks for the info i have recieved already.

i have a RA40 with a 1ggte in it, it already has a 3 inch exahust and big front mount and a pod fillter and boost control
i am wantting to get 200kw atw. I am wondering the best way to achieve this i am thinking a single turbo.
I have heard that with the mods i already have done that the standard ecu will over fuel the engine relating to lose of pwr is this correct?
In which case if i put an aftermarket computer in and wound up the boost to 12-15psi would i get close to my goal with a
a good tune?? would this be safe to the turbos or woud they be maxed out , would high flowing them help ?
what computer would you recommend and could i get a second hand one and re-map it?
or would a piggy back suffice? would i have to re engineer the car if i put a single turbo conversion on it?

thanks for any help and info

Man, just a few questions there.

I used to have a 1g-gte had about 240rwkw or something like that. Was a fair sedate boost level though.

Sounds like your ancillaries are sorted so Computer & Turbo would be the clear next spot.

I would suggest a computer from my experience. That said, I changed the turbos straight away, I never ran the stock standard ones.

I also wouldn't remap a standard one. Get a proper aftermarket and you'll get decent tuning ability. For example, Haltech Sprint 500's will run a 1g-gte well, or the Sport 1000 will do even better.

But, if you go single turbo you probably will need a retune and if you go aftermarket ECU it won't be legal at all from what I understand.

    What he said.

Update to a single turbo, and an aftermarket ECU, and 200rwkw should be a walk in the park.

rod spent a bit of effort on the standard turbos, but I don't think he got to 200.

    Hey Brett,

im no expert on the 1G but im working on it.

I bought rod's old setup that made 190 something kw at the wheels and its a very well thought out list of upgrades.

I ended up needing to replace a rear turbo seal and decided to do the upgrade to single turbo and haven't stooped spending since.
if you are looking to keep a sensible budget and keep a stock looking setup we could defiantly work something out.
I don't want to try and sell you my stuff if you don't want it but it sounds like you are looking for exactly what I have sitting around. ported pipework, injectors, piggyback ecu, apexi boost control, very very nice twin dump pipes and merge pipe, 2 spare turbos. could prob just grab my AFM and airbox and you wouldn't even need to tune it.
    something to think about.

Yeah just for the info guys i am trying to decide what to do with my car spend some money on the engine that
is enginnered to it by single turbo and aftermarket computer or put a 1jz in it. i just wonder how hard it s to fit
the 1jz into the RA40 or easier to keep my 1ggte and modifie it further

Motor mad mike what is all this gear you speak about how much rwkw did you hav when you had this set up
i already have a 3inch dump pipe so what is the difference between the twin one you have

I've recently dynoed my car, 3in exhaust , smallish front mount, gt28rs turbo on 12psi(wastegate pressure).

It had a stock ecu and stock afm it made 197kw at the wheels. Tuner said it was nearly out of safe injectors at that boost but still plenty rich.

Is a fun power for a Celica ad I've been loveing it!
