I'm not sure on the specific background behind the rule but I think it is a general rule against our public liability for all sanctioned events. We cant have people playing with hazardous chemicals during the event so it's easier for us to comply to that requirement by mandating that people have fuel. Maybe Rod, Dave or Simon might be able to shed some more light.

i have never buggered around with fuel levels in my car when attending toyotafest. just make sure you have enough fuel in the tank that you dont need to crack open a jerrycan to put more fuel in it so you can get out of the carpark.... by the sounds of it it is just to stop people running around with petrol containers all over the place for insurance purposes as ant says above.

No real reason to be filling up mid-event anyway as engines aren't allowed to be started during the show...

To answer the fuel question, it is a Public Liability Insurance thing, in short vapours explode, fuel doesn't.

More applicable older cars with questionable fuel tank sealing properties.
