    Default 1uzfe correct flexplate assembly?

Just fired up my 1uzfe mx73 for the first time and there was a horrible grinding noise coming from the trans, was told I maybe have installed the flex plate and spacers wrong , the order I did was CRANK -THICK SPACER -FLEXPLATE -THIN SPACER WITH CURVED EDGE, which I'm sure was correct? Can anyone please show a photo or diagram of how it is supposed to be?

Unfortunately no pics for you. Is it possible the flex plate is on backwards? I can see the starter getting caught in the ring gear as I believe the teeth are angled slightly. Your spacing seems correct but i could be wrong as i haven't played with any uz engines yet so that info is from other autos I've played with.

    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,

    Peter

Yeah I am pretty sure it was the right way , ( angled tooth side facing the starter motor) , but I just took everything off and flipped the flexplate to see if that works

I have this drawing I did ages ago.

If you haven't already, start it with the gearbox off?

Rules out the gearbox and also lets you see where it's touching if it is.
