Ahh ok, thanks for the heads up, guys. That's kind of what I was hoping this type of day would be like.
What is 'dodgy overtaking'?!
I definitely cant make this date but I'll keep my eyes peeled for the next one, how far ahead do you plan them?

Vito, you wrote that list in the wrong order. Get in line kents!
And yes you can/could get insurance for track cars, rallies etc, and i'd assume you still can; it's kinda more so for old gents in their classics or supercars, or carrera cup cars. Expensive as shit though, because you're insuring against bending a race car, in a race.
These days are private practice days, there's no official timing, pretty much everyone knows half/most/all the people there or someone who does, and it's all pretty laid back. Novices are few and far between, and NOBODY wants to bend their car - so they're less likely to bend someone else's while they're at it. We do these 4 times a year; i've been doing them for 10-12? years (have only missed 2-3 that whole time), and have seen two bits of contact in that time, both very minor. I've seen a couple of cars go on their side/roof, and another two go very close, so the risk is there, but they did them on their own.
I've had days at Eastern Creek where i've seen more cars bent way worse in a single day than i ever have at Wakefield. 2 or 3 days out of, dunno, 15-20 days i've done there? Again though, i don't consider that a particularly dangerous track - i think there's plenty of room in places, but the speeds are higher and there is concrete; it comes down to driving within your limits.
Wakefield is basically in a paddock, so there's really only a couple of spots where there's anything to hit, and you have to try hard to get them. The whole point of track days is to learn your limits and improve your driving up to and around them, so you should be working up to them and getting comfortable, not flying way past them and ending up on your roof on the gravel or against the tyres.

it's on! new vs old dont know why i am so pumped for this day, but i am.
Hey Vito, if you gloat too much when you beat him in his own car, he might not let you back in it. I didn't tell everyone i was faster in his car and he's letting me drive it again - you could learn something from me. And i could drive your car faster too.
