mx83 speedo problems

howdy guys. in my mx83 cressida, my speedo does not work at all. so im guessing what speed im doing each time it gets driven. im wondering if its becasue the cluster is "broken" but everything else works perfectly. can someone direct me in the right direction to fix this. also have an oil leak but ill get onto that on a later date.

What year is your mx83? The early ones use a cable drive, so that may have snapped...?

as far as i know it would be a cable driven one. how would i go about fixing that? kinda need this fixed asap and google dosent seem to have anything about cable driven speedos, nor does any fourms there all about the other type

You'll need to buy a new/good condition second-hander and swap them out. It's a bit of a prick to change as you need to remove the dash cluster to unhook it up there and also need to unscrew it after the elbow on the gearbox. Then there's a securing clip or two and removing it and the grommet that protects it from the firewall. Little bit weird to explain but once you start digging in it gets more obvious, but please confirm it is definitely a cable type first.
