Default 1GGZE - Name this part?

Still messing about with the 23 and while it was identified as "broken" a few weeks ago, I've only now gotten around to seriously thinking about it.

It is a sensor of some sort obviously and I think it must be temperature related. I've tried looking on toyodiy and while I think it might be a cold start injector, the diagrams are no particularly helpful in this instance.

Can anyone confirm what this part is? It is the broken green thing in the pics below.

    Cheers.

As you can see, it goes into what looks to me like the thermostat housing.

Also, anyone got any ideas on how I can undo a 12mm nut that has been stripped? (for the record, not by me). The belt has been slipping a little and I went to adjust the alternator today, only to find the nut has been a little rounded off (tried socket and ratchet spanner but 12mm slips and 11mm is too small to go on).

    Yep, its the coolant temp.

The white single wire one is for the dash temp gauge.
The orange one on the top is for the cold start injector which is located underneath the inlet manifold (just follow a hardline off the fuel rail).

I've got to "spread" it around before I give you guys more rep. Thanks very much.

What are the consequences of no ECU temp sensor? (it will get replaced regardless, but I'm curious).

EDIT: looks like it is a common as muck toyota part too. Of course, now that I can search on part number, I've found the other forum threads with this part in it. May also address my cold start issues according to other posts.

I would think it would run so rich it probably wont run especially if its a bit warm ...

As far as your 12mm nut goes try banging on a 12mm impact socket as they are generally single hex & pretty heavy duty so the nut will be completely covered by the socket, hopefully that will work ..

Thanks lexmax. Car runs fine except when cold (idles but doesn't like throttle until it is warmed up).

    Will try the impact socket.

My ECU likes to see a nice number from the coolant temp sensor before it will let the supercharger come out to play.
