The condenser is at the front of the car in front of the radiator.. under the dash is the evaporator. But what your picture points to appears to just be part of the blower motor?
OK, I have a leak in my aircon. We have confirmed that the leak is inside the car under the dash. (some aircon guy with a gas sniffer).
I have pulled out the glove box and some of the other surroundings, but im not sure what I am looking at. I have a mate (air con specialist) coming over to look at it, and he said to get him the best access to the condensor as possible.
I have tried to remove the fan unit with little to no luck, I have undone all the bolts holding it in place and still no luck removing it. Is the second unit from the left the condensor? (the big square one right of centre in photo) or should I remove that too? It seems to be what is holding the fan box in place. If it isn't the condensor waht is it??

I am the sun
Yeah the one on the left is the blower motor, what about the one on the right?
From memory the one on the left is held in by the aircon lines on the firewall.
The one on the right can be removed fairly easily though.
If you can wait until tonight I can double check the ones I've got at home and confirm this.
i'd like to remove all that stuff.
Eric
I think the thing on the right is the air con evap, not the left. I ripped mine out a little while ago. There's 2 lines holding it in place at the firewall, unscrew them in the engine bay. Other than that there's a bunch of screws holding in there, just try to find them. I admit is was kinda hard to do. There's also a few wires connecting to it which need to be unplugged.
Good luck.
it will be the aircon evap thats gone - ive swapped one in and out of mine - and ots an arse of a job .. lots of hard to fund bolts on the firewall - a few under the dash - but it looks like youve got them all -
unbolt the aircon lines from the engine bay side - and wriggle it gently - you dont want to ruin the rubber seal on the firewall ..
if all wires are disconnected from the sensors and stuff - it should come out fairly straight forward ..
The fun starts when you have to put it back in ..
its about a 2 hour job , in and out for me now

Stu - So the unit on the left is the evap? the one with the fan intake?
thats about it mate - sits in directly behind the glovebox ..
inside that white thing theres like a boxed radiator core .. thats the actual evaporator .. theres a dain that runs out the firewall from it as well - and a temp sensor probe that goes into it
My unit failed on me in this area ( as well as 2 leaks under the bonnet )
be cautious though - that evap core is very hard to source ( it was for me anyway ) i had to take a risk on a second hand one that luckily worked , but , i assume , but only assume that the SX one would be identical . Remember you have an advantage of being in a larger town so chances are much better of finding a good one + radiator places can presure test them to check for leaks, the sdame way they do your normal water cooling system - IF the core is out

Well today we plugged pressurised nitrogen into the system, and there is an audible leak under th bonnet near the condensor, no audible leaks in the evaporater area.
We checked the pipes heading into the compressor they aren't leaking, talking to mark at Neal Bates there is a pressure relief valve on the back of the compressor and that may be the problem but that still means removing the alternator and perhaps the dump pipe, if not, looks like a new compressorHopefully I will get it apart and back together on saturday.
id love a local who understood Gt4's
no one around here can nail down my electrical hiccup re aircon compressor not kicking in when the buttons pressed ..
got to go to bloody melbourne to find a decent auto sparky
