Hi guys. Recently my 1j powered soarer died on the dyno. With the 1j damaged more or less beyond repair I started searching for a new bottom end. I thought I may as well do what I've always wanted to do and stick a 3L bottom end in. I have too much money invested in my head and turbo setup so doing a full 2j conversion was out of the question. I was lucky enough to source a brand spanking new 2jz-gte bottom end which should hopefully arrive next week.
Now the question is what should I do to prep the engine while it's out of the car. At a minimumim going to get everything re torqued for peace of mind. I know this is a very vague question but are there any simple/cheap things I can do to make the engine more reliable. I'm only looking to be making under 400rwkw max. Probably closer to 340rwkw through an auto. I would like to raise the rpm a little also, not that I'd be driving at high rpm very often. I'd just like to occasionally show the rb boys that 2js can sound good also. I have a suprastick installed so I'd be tuning to shift at normal rpms, just would like to rev it out every now and then in manual mode.
Currently I'm thinking re torquing and maybe getting it balanced. Im guessing new rod bolts and race bearings may be the go. New pistons is out of the question, same with rods unless the $600 rods on eBay (can't remember the brand) are any good.
I do understand this is a sky's the limit type question, I'd just like a list of options and opinions from people with more experience with engine building than me so when I take it to my engine builder I have a little bit of knowledge so I don't get taken for a ride and I can make a more informed decision.
Cheers.

prolly would have been cheaper to buy a used 2j block, get the crank checked and buy rods n pistons with arp's through out.
but seeing as you have a brand new toyota built bottom end ?, id slap your head on and keep it not much more than 300-330kw, do skids and have fun.
why 400kw ? what have you got now ?
why did yours die on the dyno ? a good tune will make good safe power.
