Question Q re: Backlit (Reflective) Autometer Gauges

    Hey guys,
Wondering if any of you guys have a way to brighten the stock Autometer gauge backlights? I think they're LED or something..... should I just go to bursons etc. and buy a regular bulb to stick in there?
    Thanks guys

btw. mine is the reflective type, not the light through face kind

Doesn't say anything on their annoying website - if you could recall where you saw it it'd be great... that and a place where they sell them?

I'm interested to know how to brighten up mine too, a ring neon or EL cable was one idea but that would have involved dismantling the boost gauge.
They use wedge globes, so I bought a 12V 5W globe that is marginally brigther than the bundled one, maybe putting in something that is even brighter might do the trick.
The problem is that the face of the gauge is too close to the glass. If you moved it back 2-3mm it would be a ton brighter. Bit of a design flaw, that would wouldn't expect from such a high end brand.

go to jaycar and get some ultra brite l.e.d.s there are pretty brite
you should be able to fit 2 in the gap aswell(just use a little silicone to fix them in)
i think the site is www.jaycar.com.au
just had a look on the site they are no longer called ultra brite l.e.d.s but i think this will do the job??
LED 5MM CLEAR WHITE 18000MCD,, just enter that into the search!! you may need a couple of resistors for it though so you dont blow it with car voltage guy in the shop should be able to tell you what resistance!!

The one on your dash has an LED in it, really should be changed to an incandescant globe.

Solution: 12v 3watt Flat tailed globe - now have a perfectly legible albiet green boostgauge

Might give those blue tinged "bluevision" things a go next, they're like $4 a pack lol
