they've just brought out a range of replacement brighter LEDs for them. saw an ad in a mag today.
Hey guys,
Wondering if any of you guys have a way to brighten the stock Autometer gauge backlights? I think they're LED or something..... should I just go to bursons etc. and buy a regular bulb to stick in there?
Thanks guys
btw. mine is the reflective type, not the light through face kind![]()

I'm interested to know how to brighten up mine too, a ring neon or EL cable was one idea but that would have involved dismantling the boost gauge.
They use wedge globes, so I bought a 12V 5W globe that is marginally brigther than the bundled one, maybe putting in something that is even brighter might do the trick.
The problem is that the face of the gauge is too close to the glass. If you moved it back 2-3mm it would be a ton brighter. Bit of a design flaw, that would wouldn't expect from such a high end brand.

The one on your dash has an LED in it, really should be changed to an incandescant globe.

Solution: 12v 3watt Flat tailed globe - now have a perfectly legible albiet green boostgauge
Might give those blue tinged "bluevision" things a go next, they're like $4 a pack lol
Heh, did you enjoy the wonderful fun it is to fit the gauge up there on the dash.... now you may know why i never changed it in the first place despite it pissing me off no end.
