Default Wondering what my STEALTH tuned ECU for JZA70 Supra is tuned for

I have a STEALTH tuned ECU and was told that it's tuned for 650cc injectors. It came with a motor swap that I bought and for some reason, I assumed that the injectors I received with the swap where 650cc but they turned out to be stock needles. I also received a working stock ECU but I'm currently buying new injectors and want to double check this tuned ECU.

    The small silver stickker in the middle was suppose to determine what size needles it's tuned for but it has been rubbed off due to age and I can't make out so much. It looks like it says the following;

    STEALTH
    . 54650
    M BIX 532b

I can only identifie ''M'' ''xx650'' and ''532b'' positively. Those ''xx'' numbers are a bit blurry and the ''BIX'' might say BiX instead.

My STEALTH ecu vs. my other stock ecu (just for the thread)

Has anybody ever found out what theirs had in store or anybody know of a source to find the old mightymap softwear for sale? I suppose I can finger this out the hard way lol

I wouldn't waste time with chipped ECUs unless you know it will work without issue with your setup.

This is speaking from experience. I had a mildly tuned chipped ECU that I lucked out on years ago. but was bored and went aftermarket soon afterwards.

And if it does run the engine, the other big issue is that most chipped ECUs are tuned for too ignition that the engine will knock on non-Japanese fuel.

Skimping out on the ECU is the worse thing you can do on any modified setup. It's the most important part - I've been through so many different ECUs, from OEM automatic, to OEM manual, to chipped OEM manual, to aftermarket untuned, to aftermarket tuned, to another aftermarket and perfecting the tune myself.

I still wonder why I never went aftermarket straight away back in 2006. It would have saved the time and effort with the false problems created by the OEM ECU. On the otherhand, I understood (too late) why aftermarket ECUs and tuning mattered.

Put simply, it's the most important part of any modifications, mild (intercooler and exhaust only) or not.

Thanks for the insight BK, I will be going full engine management eventually after upgrading fuel later in the future. Right now I'm finally going turbo after owning the 86.5 Supra since 2008 and I have the option of running the stock ECU and this sort of random ECU.

The engine came with Titan cam gears (never been adjusted), stock cams (the marks on the rollers are the same as the marks on the lubes giving a hint that its original and never replaced), also had a big single T78 Greddy turbo kit with a free flowing exhaust and intercooler. But it came with stock needles instead of the 650cc injectors. So that alone throws me off. Was told that previous owner (the guy who owned it before the guy I bought it off of) was putting out 400whp.

Id like to run the STEALTH ECU just because of the other features it has like no limiters. I have read about the differences between Japanese Fuel and American/Canadian fuel. I don't have anything to worrie about here other then what it's tuned for really. We have a E85 gas station near by over the border in the US that I would always fill up on. I heard these tuned ECU's love E85.

Any thoughts about running this random ECU with a S-AFC? I'll be running a full engine management eventually. I understand where your coming from but I just want something fun and reliable for now and want to find out what the hell this thing is made for. Nothing is better then having a tune to make the most out of your mods.

I sold my greddy single manifold and I have the T78 to sell still. But I'm sending my 1jz stock twins to have rebuilt with steel blades and shafts, wastegates bored 34mm, GT2860RS 62trim Compressor wheels with polished housings. I would like to fab myself a twin intake mod set up soon after having this swap done.

Overall idea is to have a 400+whp car that looks stock as possible.

You cant just run it on e85 it will end badly as I can guarantee the stealth ecu wont be tuned for e85 and as you need more e85 than regular 98 you will be running lean on that tune...

Simple answer is run stock ecu and injectors and an safc

Go full standalone ecu to wind it up...

That's the way to go! I just don't have enough to go full standalone off the bat since I have been collecting for the swap itself.

This sucks. It was suppose to be plain and simple until I found out that the injectors that came with the swap where stock needles.

There is a few members on the local forums that are running these I'll have to ask them what their running and what their numbers say on the sticker. And what their ecus are tuned for.

If anybody out there runs one of these please PM me what it says on your sticker and let me know what yours is tuned for incase these guys no longer have them.

    Wish me luck!

No one knows about chipped ECUs - because it's just easier to go with an aftermarket ECU and get it tuned properly for the locally available fuel.

I dont understand the fascination about chipped ECUs, apart from saving money, and spending so much time chasing solutions to pseudo problems caused by those ECUs themselves.

I've been in that boat. Would I do it again? hell no. Aftermarket all the way...

But it's easier for me to say because I can road-tune it myself.

Haha yeah that's the good part, after figuring how in the first place. That's what I'm not so inclined about yet, but I will be. Trust me. My brother is building his K24 Acura type S engine in his 1993 Honda Prelude with a big nasty supercharger and 725cc injectors with full engine management. He is just getting ready to purchase the engine harness now. I will need to keep up with him somehow
