    Default 1jz using mx83 a340?

i've read a few threads and couldn't really find a solution. it was more or less information on the transmission differences.

i'm putting a 1jz from a jzz30 into an mx83 and want to use the standard mx83 a340e. from what i understand, the jzz30 a340 has two speed sensors and has a mechanical gear selector.

how do i get the mx83 a340 to work with the jzz30 1jz and wiring?

it wont work. you cant use the standed 7m auto as they have different bellhousings and the jz one will not bolt up. so u need to find a 1j box.

Use a 1JZ-A340E Bellhousing, Then get wiring diagrams and wire the NSW, Solenoids and Speed Sensors up to the 1J as the plugs most likely will not match up.

That being said most A340E Boxes from a 1JZ will have the Bellhousing attached to them so it's just a better idea to get a box that normally came with the 1JZ-GTE your using... e.g if it's a JZZ30 Loom on the 1JZ, use a JZZ30 Box.

The second consideration to take is the MX83 Box may be weaker. I know 7M-GTE A340E's have mostly the same Internals as the 1JZ's but not sure about A340E's found behind non Turbo 7M's.

The Best bet would be to find the correct box and to find a good one, otherwise you need a 1JZ Bellhousing and so long as the Input shaft is the same it should be OK.

    Speed sensors are different
Unless u have an early chaser 1j
Most 1js have two wire output shaft sensor with 4 pulses
And Cressidas have 32 pulses with 3 wire sensor
Can be converted with a speedo converter box

thanks for the advice! i have managed to fix the a340 that came off the jzz30 cut i got and am bolting that on instead.

only problem i have is that the gearbox mounts are completely different. would it be smarter to modify the mx83 gearbox cross member to make it fit or should i swap rear extension housings?

i've compared the two rear housings and the mx83 has a plug that doesn't match (other plug goes in perfectly). does anyone know if i can just rewire this and will have no dramas?

it will fit. if its doesn't there is something wrong. there is abit of flex in the rubber which is were a few guys think it doesn't fit. which engine mounts are u using??? not that it will matter as there is plenty of holes under the car for the box to bolt too.

ahh fair enough. i'm using flipped jzx90 engine mounts with the jzx90 rubbers. rubbers need an extra hole drilled at the bottom of the bottom plate so the nub slots in.

i looked under and saw all those holes haha

i would have used factory rubbers if one didn't break while taking it out haha. x90 rubbers seem stiffer and newer anyway.

thanks a lot for the help!
