The bit that the crownwheel bolts up to has different offsets depending on the ratio of the diff. Not sure when they changed offsets but i know when people use a torsen LSD center from a supra in a hilux they need to use a 2.5mm spacer between the crownwheel and carrier. Earlier diffs up to about 1983 used smaller carrier bearings and had a solid spacer on the pinion instead of the collapsable one used on later diffs. I think the center out of a front landcruiser diff, which is a high pinion diff has the same offset as the Supra and is a four pinion center which is stronger than the hilux two pinion center.
