    Default Narrowband Question

    Heyo,
I'm about to install an Innovate MTX-L wideband onto my 1JZ.
Reading through the quickstart quide, it has a simulated narrowband analogue output of 1.1-0.1V.
Am I able to ditch my stock sensor, mount the Bosch wideband in its place (with an adaptor plate) and run that output to my stock ECU?
the Stock Denso narrowband is a 3wire, would I run into problems not having the heater circuit connected from the ECU?

    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

In the event that the ECU threw a fault, just hook the narrow band sensor up to the heater circuit (you may have to create a ground) and tie the sensor some place under the car where a little bit of heat won't cause a problem. Sensor won't be doing anything, but it will keep the ECU happy

    1. Yes, you can connect the simulated narrow band output to the stock ECU. It's made for that exact purpose.
    2. No, you won't have any problems disconnecting the heater circuit. If you're worried, measure the heater circuit resistance and get a resistor of the same value and sufficient watt rating.

The heater circuit for the EGO is usually powered from the EFI/ ignition relay. So as long the ECU receives a signal it won't show any DTCs

Anyone know what resistance a narrow band gives off when at full temp?

If you mean the resistance of the heater, then don't worry about it.
The ecu won't give twofucks about the heater not being there.

so just leave it open circuit or closed circuit?

Open or with a resistor. If you bridge the wires it will be a dead short (battery voltage to earth), which is... Not Fun At All... Hook up the 'narrow band output' of your wide-band to the ECU. As an added bonus you can normally also select the air-fuel ratio that the computer sees as stochiometric. Which you can potentially use to aid fuel economy if you don't go too far (the car probably won't idle at 17:1, and the ECU can throw a fault code if the learning table reaches some maximum value).
