Importance of an oil pressure sensor

I have nearly finished my mx73 1uz conversion, just got a front mounted oil filter setup but the pressure sensor hits the engine mounts, without it it will all bolt up sweet, just wondering if I really need the sensor or if I can modify it with a fitting to relocate it to the other side , any help

as long as you have an oil pressure sensor in the pressure side of the system you should be fine

Nope, put a plug in it and carry on.
Its just a moron light that triggers at 5psi, if your giving it the beans and you suddenly lose all oil pressure the motor is fucking rooted by the time you see it, process what it is, pull over and shut down kinda thing.

or run a braided line from it to the strut apron then buy a vdo oil adjustable oil pressure light and set it up to come on at 200 kilopascals and use the other side for a mechanical oil pressure guage

Another option would be to buy a $30 sandwich plate.

Buy a 90 degree fitting. Most of the auto parts stores usually carry them. Then screw it in so switch faces away from mount, or better still get oil gauge and sender set.
