    Default 1jz supra jza70 sp20 pin

    hi
Does anyone know the function of the sp20 pin on a jza70/jzx81 1jz ecu? the pinout I have states that its something to do with the cruise control but I cant find anywhere that actually says exactly what its function is. I need to know as I'm converting to a soarer ecu and need to know which pin to connect it to.
    Thanks

    EDIT: WATCH THIS SPACE

it may have been used on some versions of the ecu, for example those with cruise control system or something like that. Also, even ecu's built for different engines may share the same universal board, which can be differently populated with components

    Hi,

It would be an output of the SP2 Signal from the ECU to the Cruise control Computer and other computers that require that reading.

    SP2 is Speed Sensor No.2

It's for an auto signal input
Should be sp2 +. And should be an sp2- on the chaser ecus
It comes from the abs ecu
If its not hooked up all works ok but I think over drive light flashes
If u do hook it up and u hook it up wrong then auto will stay in first
Soarer ecu has sp2 + sp2- as well but the soarer has different setup in rear of auto to
A chaser so u will have to compare to see if it will all work

That was my next question, sp2+ or sp2-? Why does the cruise need 2 speed signals?
So your saying splice it onto either sp2+ or sp2- ?
Doesnt the cruise unit need a TPS input of some variety? or does it just guess
    Thanks for the replies

You would need to look at the Cruise Control wiring diagram for your car to see what inputs it needs.

Speed it definitely needs and I normally thought that signal should be delivered from the "SPD" wire from the Cluster, perhaps it's different on
    the newer Toyotas.

Yea I had a look, just says that it goes to that pin, doesn't say what it does.
Your right the "spd" wire does deliver a speed signal, hence my confusion as to why it would need another one
Think I'll just leave it unplugged and see what happens..

U don't have to touch cruise
There is no wire that goes from ecu just to cruise that if not connected will stop cruise to work
If its auto the s2 wire goes to the auto and also goes to cruise
But u have to connect this so gbox works ok so it gets connected anyway so cruise will work
Cruise uses the spd speed signal not the sp2. Half the info above is wrong

Yea it's auto. So at this stage it looks like ill be joining sp2- and abs sp2- onto the sp2- pin. Cruise control ill see if it works without connecting anything to pin sp20.

I see no SP20 Pin on the JZA70 wiring diagrams.... Is there even a wire coming off the ECU hardness from this pin?

I got no idea how the Pinout descriptions say that it runs to ABS.

"sp20" is the name given to pin 9 on connector u of the jza70 pinouts. It goes to the cruise control computer pin 10. I have no idea what it does, I've just got the car going on the soarer ecu and im about to go test out the cruise now
