Never seen it for sale, based on that, I'm guessing next to nobody uses the stuff hence, why they would drop it.
Hi guys and girls I'm trying to gather information on people using and needing e85 from caltex outlets I heard through the grapevine and confirmed it today from a caltex sales manager that they are planning to phase out Eflex (E85) from there outlets by the end of the year
Eflex is a great fuel it would be a shame to see it gone
We need to show caltex that its a important to keep it on the market
Who is with me ?

Never heard of anyone using it that I know personally, I know Caltex and a bunch of other servos (United?) sell it but you cant buy it locally here.
And that's the reason its destined to fail. Doesn't make economic sense to sell a product which the vast majority wont use, you have a hard enough time trying to flog E10 let alone a fuel that most don't know anything about and only works in a few cars.
Yep, they seem to screw up their placement of these kinds of products... My local suburb with a population of 25000 has 91, 98 and E10. Yet some small place like Glen Innes sells 100.... WTF.

The Caltex on the Hume Highway near the cross roads has it and I use it. Awesome stuff, Madrav hope it is just a rumour because plenty of people modding their cars like me to run it. Thought your info is contrary to what I have heard in relation to a larger roll out of it especially across outlets near Brisbane etc. Given the subsidies provided to the producers I can't imagine why they wouldn't want to continue to make it not to mention Holden rolling out more cars ie the V6 are now eflex compatible where it use to only be the V8s.
Best thing it is so cheap $1.10 to $1.20/L at most so even with the lower economy it is well worth it for the power gains.
If in doubt power out
E85 certainly is the bizniss

Still planning on running my new engine on E85. Till they start making lots more cars that can actually run on E85 it really is just a cheap race fuel more than anything else at the moment. Niche application...
Will change with time though I'm sure.
I don't think its ever going to catch on, just going to be another technology that never caught on.
In Aus maybe but places like Brazil E70-100 is the norm, it's hardly new we are just late adopters of it. If Bio-mass production of it can be sorted then it is by far the most preferable option of sustainable fuel I'd like to use.

RONA i agree i have multiple cars running on e85 i will be spewing when its gone cause it means i need to retune all of them
my sources are very reliable
1 national manager for a company that maintains all caltex sites
2 from the horses mouth a sales manager from caltex direct
sad sad day when it happens

AU$TRALIA... come and stay and PAY and PAY!!! The moral high horse of the world!
sucrogen makes the E85 barrels that you see people using at race meetings (WTAC etc), not caltex. so i dont see why not.
also united apparently make their E85 from their own ethanol plant according to their website so this ought not affect them either, which is good as the closest servo to me with E85 is a united servo![]()
