Default 5mge trsm torque settings wrong?

I cant seem to stop a slow leak of oil from my camshaft housing on the 5mge. The new 'old' gasket had the same problem so I replaced it with a new metal one that I lined with hylomar. Yet there is still a slow leak of oil coming from them. I checked the housings and the head for flatness and its within specs. Could it be the torque of the bolts in not right? the trsm specifies 22 N-m - no idea otherwise how to stop it

Also did aus models of the 5mge not come with the vacuum pipe subassembly? as mine simply doesn't have it

    (us model ignore)

Did you put new o rings under the rear cam covers? Little 3 bolts ones, that's a common leak point.
Back in the day I had a brand new 6 M and after about 20000 klm there was a very very tiny weep from the exhaust cam box . The original gaskets were fluromer coated like the MLS head gaskets but the new after market ones look just painted black.
I've always just reused the originals with three bond sealer and never had any probs .

Yer its not the rear orings, replaced them. It was leaking the whole way along the housing at the seam. In the end I took the housings off and put a different type of sealant on the metal gaskets seems to of fixed it. I must say the 5m's and 6m's are such a nightmare for oil leaks.

The M series engines are no more prone to oil leaks than most other toyota engines . Its how they have been looked after which denotes how bad they leak.
