I do not envy anyone who has to do this replacement

i still dont understand how some people in near on stock 1jz's kill their turbos.... modified jobbies yeah but jeepers.. it must be something to do with lack of good oil and frequent oil changes maybe? ive been ringing 13-16psi out of mine for like 3 years+, only time it gets driven is hard... i change oil every 4,000kms or 3 months (and its usually 3 months because i dont clock up that many kms ) or after a track day... or maybe im just really lucky

im sooo not looking forward to the day they do die

PS I think Adz holds the WA record for 1jz turbo removal, like 2.5 hours off a 1jz in jzz30

holy crap - kudos on that removal time!
was that from ready-to-run to turbos off? (ie: was the exhaust and all inlet piping still attached?)

I replace the turbos in a day with the engine in the car and it was a biatch++ to do. My hands were not happy jan.

The only major problem I had was with some of the bolts wanting to cross thread in the soft aluminium.

Make sure the holes are clean and next time I do it I will test fit all the bolts before I put the turbos back on to make sure.

adsport would love to see a video of that, it would be the toymods version of those japanese guys going mario bros in 5 mins or the rubiks cube in 20seconds haha.

I don't understand how anyone who has blown their stock turbos and taken them off could possibly consider putting them back on! That was half the reason I went single, there is a heap less crap in there and a lot easier to work on!

isn't that the idea? you try as hard as you can to blow the stockies so you have a good excuse to go single?

no doubt costs more but if you have the money to go single then it is best for sure. Less things to break is always good

And also $110 for working turbos is not a regular price.

    drive in , drive out.

its a funny thing, ive done quite a few now and usually i wait till they are cold to work on them but with this one i drove it in and it sat for about 10 minutes, then started ripping into it starting at the top , intake piping etc first and it all seemed to come off SO much easier then any ive done before.

and yeah i agree with the guys , it seems wrong to be REinstalling twins but hey not everyone can afford a single even these days..

ct12A's usually go for 400-500 depending on age and km for replacement secondhandies

placentajuan: refer to above post for price

Not talking about new ones, no one would be stupid enough to buy new ones I don't think.

we did them in 45 minutes...

motor was out of the car

and we did have air tools...realistiacally it shouldnt have taken more than 20 minutes but it was 3am and we had already downed a carton of pale ale...the neighbors DID NOT appreciate the use of rattle gun at 3am in a suburban area LOL
