Default 1ggte conversion wiring help! too much harness!!!

ok well this has been a baffling thing for me this 1ggte i got from a gen 3 gz20 the thing came with a full harness (engine, engine bay, and under dash?) obviousy i have to keep the engine harness which is on the motor and the ecu is mounted in the car but what about these other harnesses? what do i need of these harnesses to run the engine? theres a tonne of it and im pretty much lost looking at it i dont know where to begin.
i found this http://www.supra.co.nz/1g.htm still pretty lost though.

u just need the 1gg engine harness
add new relays and throw out the other 1ggte harnesses
then get a multimeter and start probing the wires
also read over the diagrams for awhile so u understand how it all works
then connect afew wires to battery and ignition switch and fuel pump
    and it should start hopefully

I feel your pain, but also as has been said what year car is the motor going into as the motor needs to be the same age as the car or newer for rego & emission / compliance ..

its easy if u just want to hook everythbing up to a switch

proper way is to hook up cor and the efi relay
so first read diagrams and learn how relays works

ive gone over wiring diagrams ive got the full harness diagram laid out together with all the relevent plugs.
even got a ta23 1g harness i doubt i can just swap it into the corona the plugs for the cluster arent right for a start.

spent about 3 hours on it tonight still stumped.

Tim, the harness from my 23 includes all the plugs to mate to the body harness, dash, engine. I don't know what theCorona plugs are like but you should have all the wires to use in your existing plugs even if it requires some repinning.

As soon as I have my study back (visitors) I'll try to find some mudmaps we did.

I think the engine and ignition elements are fairly straight forward and it's just the other stuff that is making it look complex. But most of the dash stuff is labelled even if it doesn't immediately match the corona it's a starting point.

Please ask me any questions you need to about the harness, but follow Dumbass and others for electrical advice.

it looked really easy when i had the loom diagram laid out but then looking at the loom itself wow theres a fair bit there and looks like theres no mention of the boost pressure sensor unless its called something.
i thought id get into it seeing as im having a rough few days thought i needed to have a try just to get my mind off things

    just go thru yr diags
write on another paper all the powers u need
    write the relays
then go thru with multimeter and find wires u need on loom
    label them
do one wire at a time
or send us your loom and ill set it up with afew wires to install

but make sure u make notes so u dont get confused and forget things

write what each wire does too in your own language as in how u think its called
not how the diagrams call them
i find this the best way
i have my own definitions of each wire which sometimes is different to the proper diags
    and i understand it better

I don't think the boost wires are really a pressure sensor except in the sense that they activate a light that goes "boost". So just a blindly on off thing that doesn't tell you anything your arse wasn't telling you already.

The engine harness plugs should simply go into the obvious places for the gen 3.

I had forgotten but something that is not in the harness is the circuit to send power to the fuel pump on ignition and running but cut on engine stall. Needs relay thingy. Current situation is ignition on pump on ignition off pump off.

yeah thats one thing i was curious about it didnt seem that fuel cut relay on the harness the boost sensor is attached to the mounting bracket that fuel cut on stall relay setup was on.

doesnt make a difference if its a yellow plug harness pluging into a grey plug ecu? google didnt give me anything useful on that.

one thing ive noticed looks like the alternator plug has one wire rerouted through a fuse guessing it goes to the +ve on the alternator and just hooked to the existing ta23 alternator wiring.

ill go have another look split the wires up maybe itll make more sence.

Yr ta23 would have had external reg n the alternator
U need to remove that and wire the 1gg alternator directly
One wire is ign. One is batt. And last one is light

Ten u have the stud wire which is battery too

well the yellow plug harness pins are all different to the grey so im starting from scratch.
started taking the tape off the harness from the alternator plug found the headlight wiring and cut it out still heaps of stuff left but i figure ill sort out the irrelevent stuff.
what would really come in handy is one of those diagrams that show how the harness is plugged in the soarer just so i can see what else i can cut out thats not required.
