Default Mismatched panel colour NSW Registration

I'm hoping to have my car engineered and registered in the next week or so. I'm planning on replacing the drivers side and passengers doors, as the current ones are somewhat dinged up, the window regulators are shot and there are no rubbers/weather strips.

I have some vague recollection about issues having multiple coloured panels (they'll eventually get painted, but not in time for the registration) being somehting that might be a problem for roadworthiness.

Logically, I can't see why this would be the case but I thought I should check it out.

I cannot find anything during a lunchtime search of the RTA website, but given the state it's in, it's not easy to find a lot of stuff.

If anyone has experience of this, I'd welcome your knowledge.

I had no problems with getting my car registered with the entire front end in black panels and the rest of the car the original white, like so:

Since there is no regulations that I know of on the choice of colour of your car, there should be no worries.

The only thing I could think of would be more attention placed on the part that least matches the rest of the car if an inspection was done, but this would only be if the car had been written off or something similar.

You could say it was personal preference/styling to have the car that way, there is nothing unroadworthy about the pigment of the paint

Thanks for the sanity check guys.

I'm trying to foresee and avoid minor issues and I reckon this one will just be try it and see.

    Cheers

    Current ACT rego says black.
NSW rego may say, varies according to time of day.

I wrote the Safety Check rules back in the early to mid 90s. I left RTA about 5 years ago and now do Expert Witness work (just in case you ever challenge anything in Court). There is no requirement for colour or a mix of colours. If you don't like paint it can be two-tone surface rust if that's the look you prefer. However, if you decided to bright chrome the body it might be considered a safety hazard if on a sunny day it reflected into the eyes of an enforcement officer.

Thanks very much for that Peter, that great to know. I'm planning on swapping the doors and left guard over from the red car today (maybe the bonnet and right guard too after I have a closer look). So red and black car.
