Real quick question.. Can anyone confirm if a starter motor from a FWD 4A-C engine will fit the RWD 4AGE running a T50 box.
I'm currently using the original 4AC RWD starter motor on the 4AGE. So I guess the 4A-C and 4AG is pretty much the same.. But just checking if any difference between RWD & FWD starters?
Thanks
Joel

So reckon this one would do the job ok - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/New-Toyota-Co...QQcmdZViewItem
Be careful as it looks like a pretty cheesy starter motor. Other than that it looks like it would fit although it doesnt mention 4age

get one that has a heat shield on it, your starter will last longer

The spanner in my avatar is actually a 16mm, that's why it's still new
Have a look at this link. It shows a pic of the starter from the ingrams catalogue.
If you have a look at the pic in the catalogue the mounting looks like it is different to the AE71 4ac starter I have here. It looks more like a 20V starter which I have heard don't fit 16V in rwd.Originally Posted by From Ebay ad
In this link there is a pic of a 4age starter part no.RXS 462. This one has the heat shield mentioned above and looks like it might be a gear reduction starter (not 100% sure though). Another 4age starter here, part no.RXS 509.
If you compare the front on shots of the starters you will see the difference.
Hope this helps.

yeah 20 starters dont fit the rwd 4age for some reason - probably applies to the 16v/4ac engines too. just another note, i had a 4ac starter on my 20v and it gave up after a week cos it cant handle the torque - have a 4age one now and it works much better!
