Default Redtop beams oil filter replacement problem

so I replaced the oil filter with a valvoline v07, and now it dribbles a tiny bit whenever run out the oil filter

did it up hand tight then a quarter turn with a strap wrench thing after lubing the rubber seal

so, not tight enough, or is it just the filter and should go and get a genuine even though they suit all the same models?

quick help appreciated will be working on it tuesday

The oil filters I use all say 2/3 turn except for my Mitsubishi Magna which the manual says to tighten to 13ft/lbs (this is the only filter I have ever seen with a specified torque).

Make sure the seal from the previous filter isn't still stuck to the block - made that mistake on the AE82 ones, everything seemed alright when filling the oil up and on initial startup, right up until it dumped its guts all over the driveway.

well it stopped leaking after two tiny dribbles, will be keeping a close eye on it, might have just been some that was stuck on the outside lip or it needed to cool to seal properly

either way problem solved i guess.

+1 for this too. I know of a dealer doing this to a friends car on its first service. Short story they starved the engine and ruined it, were liable for a new one.
