That plug may be for the speed sensor on the left side of the transmission just behind the bell housing. The cable is a line pressure cable, one end of it attaches to a part inside the transmission, the other end to the throttle.
just picked up my first soarer for a good price but it does need some work (cosmetic mainly) has 127,000km
main problem ERROR CODE 67 which is causing ETC,WARNING LIGHTS, FLASHING O/D LIGHT and some random Japanese writing on the cluster. I'm told this is a faulty sensor on the tranny or can it be something els? just wondering where this sensor is? And could this be causing the gearbox to play up and cause gear change from 1st to 2nd to take its sweet time changing, even cruising slow it revs upto 4000+rpm before it changes unless i back off the throttle.
another thing to note is i just lifted the car to make sure all plugs etc where connected and found that there was 1 unused 2pin plug that i couldnt find a spot for anywhere on the transmission!! i have attached pics if anybodys knows where and what it belongs to? and also noticed the kick down cable was just sitting on top off the gearbox not attached but also couldnt find a spot to reattach? any help with my problems would be much appreciated!

Jealousy is a curse
That two pin plug is a rpm or speed sensor
The auto has two rpm speed sensors on box
One near bell housing like mad said
It's is the overrun clutch speed sensor which is also code 67 if not plugged in
This should cause yr car to change gears funny
But on a serious note
Clean the car up and sell it. Hehehehe he
I've worked on afew soarers lately and they are crap
These are starting to get a lot of problems which I guess they've always had anyway
Had to replace engine ecu on one
It's one was infested with mice or rats
So a lot of money was spent on something that would not be worth more than afew grand hehehe
Had to replace air suspension on another and heaps more issues to be fixed before its a nice drivable car
The big problem with these soarers is once u pull interior apart it's never the same
So don't touch the interior hehehehe
In thinking the box may have web changed or te sensor removed as I can't find where it plugs Into anywhere! Also where and how can I refit the kickdown cable? Can't seem to find a spot where that belongs also :/ bit off a retard when it comes to auto's as this is a first!
Also sorry about the grammer...iPhone..
There is one type of toyota box which does not run that front speed sensor
If they fitted that box then your stuffed
I u can't find anywhere for that sensor to go then u need to buy the correct box and fit that it
Line pressure cable hooks onto the throttle butterfly linkage
Take cover off where accelerator cable goes and look for a spot next to it
But I would not bother because if there is defenately no front speed sensor then u need another box
I hope u got this car cheap
Cheers and yes dirt cheap. Cheaper then a front cut. An its not bad besides this issue. Ill have another look tonight and if its not there ill go grab another box.
Cool
I would not even pay that hehehe
I just hate working on them
Anyway if there is a small black plastic two wire speed sensor on back of gbox
Not the speedo one which is three wires
That rear two wire speed sensor
U should have one at the front of the gbox on same side which is pass side
If its not there there only boxes I know that don't have the front sensor
Is a box from a crappy surf
Or I'm actually wiring up a 1uz into a hiace van at moment
This 1uz is from a hiace van in Japan that has a factory 1uz
The gbox on this hiace van has no front speed sensor either
So I'm guessing they might have got a cheap box from one of them
Just found out gearbox is from a 7m :/ devoo anyway to get these to run properly behind the JZ!?
