Default 3RZ conversion using too much fuel, 22L per 100km any ideas?

I've got a 3RZ 2000 model twin coil model out of a 2WD fitted to a 1993 extra cab 4x4 hilux. I got it mod plated and registered couple of weeks ago and the fuel economy is terrible, I've read figures of around 13-14L per 100km out of 4x4 3RZ powered hiluxs I know they aren't awesome on fuel at the best of times but 250km-300km from a tanks no good.

The engines done 305000kms but runs fine, doesn't use oil etc. I've fitted new plugs, fuel filters, fuel pumps, cleaned air flow meter, checked for air and vacuum leaks in inlet and exhaust.

Motor doesn't seem to make the power it should be and pretty surgey under load. In low range it seems to rev out alot easier and cleaner due to less load i guess.

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions what to check I'm thinking maybe coolant temp sensor or air flow meter issues?

    thanks in advance.

U should be able to get live data from it if u hooked up the obd2 plug and hook up a scanner
That would be first thing otherwise u will be guessing

Maybe even get multimeter and test voltage to coolant sensor

Did u see air flow meter come from that motor
Or did u buy the bits separately from wreckers
It could be a million things a scanner will point u in right direction

OK I didn't think they had OBD2 until the next model here in australia? I know there is a plug in the engine bay with diagnostics written on it near the power steering pump is that it?

I bought a complete vehicle as a write off and stripped everything from it for the conversion, it runs fine idles smooth.

Theres a wrecked one at my local wrecker I might get the air flow meter and temp sensor from it before I pay someone to check it out if that doesn't work I'll get it on a dyno with some diagnostics, check fuel pressure and everything while its there.

    thanks mate.
