Very cool. I've been toying with the idea of doing Rob Roy in the cressida for years. Never have got my act together and now my car is falling apart and probably wouldn't pass scrutineering.
We finally got my mate Ian's car together with its hot 7m-ge, w58, lsd/locker and coilovers about 2 weeks ago and at the last minute entered it for a run up the hill. We've both spent a lot of time on the car and engine so we double entered it to have a bit of fun. I haven't driven Rob Roy in over 5 years and it was Ian's first time at any motorsport event. He's also only had 2 weeks to get used to the car so we were thinking anything under 30 seconds would be considered a great day.
We were stoked to bring in some great times both getting quicker as the day went on
177 Andrew Curran Toyota Cressida 29.75 27.86 69.60 27.38 26.57 2 13 TCCA
77 Ian Michelson Toyota Cressida 30.43 29.50 28.80 27.56 27.19 3 20 TCCA
We snagged 2nd and 3rd in class D (2000-3000) and 13th/20th outright which we were very happy with. Obviously it was a quiet day but it was nice to get some results for a first time out. Bloody AWD turbo Laser in front of me was hard to catch.
Looking forward to some good times from this thing once we start to get it sorted and more time behind the wheel.
There was a couple of other TCCA boys there, Jamie in his little corolla next to us in the paddock and a starlet and late model celica, didnt really see how they went. There was an old bloke named Ian in a pretty serious looking old corolla from another club, I forget which one.
here is each of our best runs on the youtube:
