ahem.... there is someone on these forums with that conversionthey used a K50 gearbox

Ok, so it's not ALL toyota. I've done a bit of googling, and found heaps of people who've DONE it, but no info on HOW to do it. Does anyone know? Bascially, a friend of mine has blown his crappy 1.3 carby motor, and rather than spending 2k to get it rebuilt, I said I'd look into a 4A conversion for him. If anyone knows anything, it'd be great

I did it a few years back with a 100 kw 4ag , great but no torque down low ,
I still have all the conversion gear i think for a t50 to sierra , 1.3l

Got a mate here thats got one that has had the all alloy feroza motor put in it that thing goes like a rocket has that much grunt cant keep diffs up to it(but thats because he drives it to hard, burnouts, rollbacks etc)A vehicle which is not the most suitable thing to have done to especially on the road.4A-GE would be an excellent conversion.
Bonus with these they have a separate transfer case so any gearbox can be used.
Cheers Brett.

Yes I have done this exact conversion and it is still running in my daily driver.
There is a bit of info out there as it is becoming very popular.
Youll of course need all the regular stuff to convert it to RWD. Custom engine chassis mounts, gearbox mount and jackshaft are needed also. I have seen a few use the original radiator but I would definately get something a bit bigger made. I have a cut down 3 core radiator in mine.
Thanks for all the replies guys, I'll get in touch with him and find out what he wants to do. Shouldn't be a hard or expensive in the end. A T50 shouldn't be hard to find in an old rolla of some sort I take it? And a 4A should be under $500 with loom/ECU?
Cheers, RM.
